Become a welcoming face of New Mills Art Theatre

We are looking for people with different talents and skills to join the hardworking team here at the Art Theatre.  The theatre is an exciting place to volunteer and a great way to make new friends.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer here at the theatre, then please download the application form and return it back to us.

From Front of House, Ushering, Programme and Raffle Sales. All the way through to Stage and Technical crew, make-up artists and costume designers.

We always require additional staff to assist backstage and front of house before and during shows

What do volunteers do?

Training will be provided. We need people who are available throughout the run of a show. Some jobs can be shared with another person, and some require that you are there for every performance and throughout tech week prior to the show opening. This is a job that requires a strong commitment, and the ability to follow a script.

Properties are all of the set dressings and small articles used in a production. Volunteers can either help gather props for a production or work backstage for the performance.

Volunteers are instrumental in designing or sourcing costumes, sewing costumes, and putting finishing touches on projects. Time requirements vary with each show, but hours are flexible with your schedule.

Each show requires many people working back stage to make everything happen on stage. From preparing the set and setting the props, coordinating special effects, and moving set pieces for each scene change, there’s a lot happening back stage! To volunteer as one of the run crew, time commitment is the full run of a show plus tech week; volunteers can work every night of a production or if necessary, trade shifts with another volunteer. This requires a highly responsible person.

This is a great way to get started volunteering and meet a lot of people. Ushers are the friendly and helpful folk who get to greet the public, take tickets, help patrons find their seats, and hand out programs.

As a bartender you’ll be serving patrons, recommending drinks and keeping the bar clean, tidy and well stocked. You’ll provide a warm and friendly welcome and an efficient bar service to guests. You should be friendly, confident and professional. You’ll be working hard to make sure our guests have a great experience.

Work in our concession stand selling sweets and drinks. Proceeds from the sale of these items help to support our theatre.
